Corny crap worth watching - Batman Reviews
This movie has the #@$!est jokes the Jocker succks in this movie. With an awesome action parts and killing. This movie invovles a guy who is reborn with a unbreakable smile he starts a killing spree and batman must kick his ass. RENT IT LIKE I DID.
Very cool - Batman Reviews
Michael Keaton is the perfect BATMAN and Jack Nicholson is classic as The Joker (the only one who can play him in my opinion). Kim Basinger is cool as Bruce Wayne's love intrest and the origin of The Joker was PERFECT! The flash-backs were greatly timed with the movie and I love the climax (but the entire movie is cool...) GREAT movie!

Who are you?? i'm batman!! - Batman Reviews
And this movie truly is batman. So much better then the campy 70's Adam West version I loved this movie. The dark Gothim City scenary set the perfect back drop to one of the most perfect soundtracks that went with the movie ever. With Nicholson as the joker and Keaton as Batman I thought they played thier roles off each other perfectly. This movie is what I envision Batman to be, having read the first script thought up for this movie I'm sooo glad this is the one they went with. With classic lines like, This town needs an enima, i laughed and loved watching this movie. A must for anyone who enjoys a great movie to watch with anyone young and old.
Very disappointing - Batman Reviews
One of the slowest efforts I've seen in a really splashy big budget movie. The atmosphere that is supposed to drive the viewer is so absent of emotion that Batman not only approaches teduim but passes right over it. Only Nicholson keeps this from being a disaster and not by much.
The movie of the decade... - Batman Reviews
That was a mainstream review that hit the nail right on the head.
Originally planned in the late '70's to follow up Superman, producers kept the idea rolling throughout the early and mid-'80's. Ironically, Jack was signed to play the Joker in both the conceived films. After an 'exhaustive' search, Tim burton was signed to direct, Jack to star and Michael Keaton the surprise pick as the man in the mask. With Kim Basinger picking up for Sean Young, the film simply rolled.
With months of teasers, cereal and toys... the film released on June 23rd and dominated the box office... and didn't do Prince any harm either. The film set a new standard in summer blockbusters and completely redesigned the idea of 'comic book' films, and makes my list of 'Best' for that reason.
Not nearly as true to the comic lore as 'Batman Begins', still a great tribute to the Dark Knight and his greatest nemesis, the Joker.
This film reaches comic epic and no bathroom breaks allowed.

Bat - Batman Reviews
overrated joker and tender hero but good cinematography anyway this movie could be better than this if the director make it more thriller and darker.
Best comic adaptation on the big screen - Batman Reviews
In the comic-superhero genre, Batman is the most significant milestone after Superman. Tim Burton took the original challenge of making a dark and cynical movie out of a light and funny comic, and he succeeded wonderfully. That was pure genius. Add to this the unique performance of Jack Nicholson and the very convincing performance of Michael Keaton (he has not been equaled as Batman so far), and your movie is headed to the Oscars. I've watched Batman several times and still enjoy it - it does not get old.
The dark knight returns in a very good movie - Batman Reviews
"Gotham City" is under the insane criminal grip of its most dangerous criminal, "Jack Napier", better known to the Gothamites as "The Joker" (Jack Nicholson). And there is only one man who can stop him -- the world's greatest detective, "The Batman" (Michael Keaton).
Director Tim Burton brings to the silver screen the first correct adaptation of the popular comic book character created by Bob Kane back in 1939. This "Batman" is as dark as the city he protects.
The first thing you notice with this movie is the dark scenery. The use of dark colors and shadows are used wonderfully, especially in the final fight in the movie.
As good as the visuals of this movie is, the acting is their equal.
Michael Keaton is wonderful as "Bruce Wayne" and "Batman". His version of "Wayne" is friendly as his "Batman" is mysterious. It is a great performance for his first dramatic role.
Kim Basinger and Robert Wuhl (to a lesser degree) are fine in their roles. The only problems I had with their performances were that Wuhl was trying too hard to be comic relief, and Basinger screamed way too much.
Then there is the amazing performance by Nicholson. His performance is what "Joker" should be -- comical, yet meniacal without any care for mankind.
Those in lesser roles are also great, but only Billy Dee Williams and Jack Palance should have had more screen time than they had.
If you are looking for a movie with good acting, as well as wonderful visuals, then "Batman" has to be on your "Must See" list.

The best film of the 4! - Batman Reviews
Face it. Batman is the best. It rocks! Nicholson is the best! He is SO funny! Keaton rocks! He is dark and moody, as is the set around him! There are only two problems with this film, and they are: 1- no telling of Batman's origin, and 2- Kim Basinger. Other than that, a prime example of a good comic-book film! Watch it!
I have a flying mouse to kill... - Batman Reviews
"The movie of the decade." That was the review from a Boston writer which adorned the ads and the VHS release for Tim Burton's Batman. Was it the film of the decade? No. Very close, but not quite. It did, however, remind people that good comic books, given a chance, can make spectacular movies. Not since "Superman" had a comics character recieved such royal treatment... even as dark, gothic and dead-on as Burton's Dark Knight may be.
Was Keaton the right choice? For that moment in time, yes. Bruce Wayne is the quiet rich guy you may not feel comfortable turning your back on at some moments.. cause he is nuts, like it or not. Basinger? Eh. And if they plan a thousand sequels, they will never get another Joker like Jack. Although physically not the comics match... evil is hardly ever just that cold, cruel or fun.
While not always true to the storyline of Bruce Wayne / Batman, the film is definately a celebration of The Bat-Man's revival of the mid 80's as comics one true dark anti-hero. Sorry Adam West.
Others may say 'Returns' is the better Bat-flick of the original '4' (which include Shumacher's campy dayglow tributes), but there is no doubt that the first, with a good hard look, is still the best.
Batman 1989 - Batman Reviews
The best Batman movie so far it's number one. Jack Nickolson did and a good job as joker and Keaton has to be the best batman. Kim Bassinger was sexy in that movie ( if you are a 80's lover)
The Batmobile is stylish. If you like watching the old Batman of the 40's with Volswagen beetle batmobile then you need a life go to the video rental store and watch it.

The way batman should be - Batman Reviews
This is the best adaptation of Batman. It's dark, grim, bleak, the way Batman should be portayed. Jack Nicholson is marvelous as the Joker. He's funny, devilish, and that smile(while obviously fake) still gives me nightmares. Micheal Keaton is good, too. The sets are outstanding, and the visuals , while not excellent by todays standards, are still pretty impresive. Overall, this is the way Batman should be portrayed. I also recommend "Batman Returns," but NOT the last two films in the series, which were absolutely horrid.
Batman the movie. - Batman Reviews
In 1989 I was nine years old. This was the first adult movie i got to go to. I think my parents didn't expect it to be as violent as it was. Anyway I thought it was great then. I bought it sometime in the ninties and realized that adter watching it a second time later in life that this movie gave birth to the ninteen ninties. <--- Sorry for the run on.
Batman was an increasingly dark movie with evil undertones. I am reviewing it mostly because i am at work and i am trying to finish up my lunch hour as pointlessly as possible. That aside, i quote that this is one of jack nicholsons better films. Both he and michael keaton did an excelent job. I think that it may have ruined michaels carear cause i havent heard anything out of him till 2004 with white noise. None the less it was and is worth watching today.
Jack's show - Batman Reviews
Well adapted from the classic comic book, this version differs completely from the 1960s tv series: A dark, misty, retro and futurist at the same time Gothan City ,contrast with the colorful, modern city of the successful TV show. A capricius Tim Burton gave Michael Keaton the role of Bruce Wayne - Batman. He is uneffective as the mysterious Batman, contrasting with Jack Nicholson who plays the Joker in another fantastic performance that clearly beats Keaton 's.
Kim Bassinger completes the leads as the reporter Vicki Vale, who becames frustrated Batman's love.
Good visuals, terrific score but weak.

Batman and joker - Batman Reviews
Probably my favorite old superhero movie, I mean come on it's Batman. The actors were terrific-Michael Keton and Jack Nicholson. This movie was directed by Tim Burton, the same who directed the Nightmare Before Christmas and Edward Scissorhands. Batman basically revolves around the origin of the Joker. I bought this movie when I was little and I really liked it.
"have u ever danced with the devil ... - Batman Reviews
..Under A Pale Moon Light."-Jack Nicolson
This an extremely artistic looking movie. Typical conming from Tim Burton, whose movies are usually grotesque. This is one of his least artistic films, but this is probably his best movie.
This movie drives into pop culture. I can for hours quoting from this film. The music, the orchestrated music, from this film is excellent. It has this mysterious sound to it.
This is just a great film.

Tim burton sad sad genius... - Batman Reviews
Tim Burton is kind of a genius. He really have great ideas on how to make a movie. Unfortunally he must be cursed, because his movies ALWAYS fails.
He made this Batman movie and it sucks all the way. The only good thing about this movie is jack nicholson. Anyway, Mr. Nicholson is behiond of any crap production and will always look godlike.
The music on Batman is good.. One masterpiece of orchest music.
He also made Planet of Apes, with that great dark visual... But the rest of the movie is a pile of dog crap. And I am a big fan of the original Planet of Apes.
He also made Eduard Dickhands. I think this is his masterpiece. Anyway, this movie has great acting by Mr. Deep and other actors and all the thinks have conspire to a great movie. Seens more like a sparkle of lucky in the Tim Burton trajectory.
I hope he suceeds again in some future movie.
What's not to love about batman? - Batman Reviews
obviously not an oscar-worthy movie, but great in it's entirety nonetheless. if batman is a superhero than what is his super power? anyone, anyone. it is his intelligence. his cave, vehicles, batbelt, etc. what the human mind is capable of with super intelligence makes this movie good. but that thrown in with anger, revenge, and some attraction make this movie great. For 1989, this movie has enjoyable special effects and scenary. Batman is tim burton's masterpeice.
Batman - Batman Reviews
This live action story of the comic book hero, the caped crusader, is an excellent film by director Tim Burton (Beetle Juice, Sleepy Hollow, Edward Scissorhands). Michael Keaton's Batman and Bruce Wayne add interest to what the real Batman is like. But the one who steals the show is the brilliantly cast Jack Nicholson who falls into acid and become the evil Joker. This is a brilliant story with plenty of action in store. Brillaint!

Batman - Batman Reviews
The live action story of the caped crusader is a brilliant one by director Tim Burrton, the director of Beetle Juice and Edward Scissorhands. It has a superb representation of the evil Joker by academy award winner Jack Nicholson (One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest). Michael Keaton (Beetle Juice) also gives a good performance as Batman, but the Joker steals the show. Brilliant!
Dont mess with the bat! - Batman Reviews
this is one of the greatist movies, its spectacular! i just saw the whole searies,of it and most of them are awsome.
Batman - Batman Reviews
I thought the story line was a little weak and it was a little bizzar, that Jack Nicholson just fell into those chemicals.I did think this one is the only Batman that was ever good, Batman Begins tops all the Batman, this one is like the second best. It was the first time we saw Batman cool, nlike the original comics he had tights and was nice to people and villains, but in this one he was dark as it should have been, not as dark as Batman Begins, but dark enough, Jack Nicholson as the Joker, man the best villain of all time Danny DeVito as Penguin, horrible, Michell Pfeiffer as Catwoman, worse, Tommy Lee Jones as Two-Face, yuck!!! To me Two-Face, was just a goofy villain, Jim Carrey as the Riddler!?!? Stupid, can't see Jim Carrey as a villian, Arnold Swarzenegger as Mr. Freeze, weird acent, and Uma Thurman as Poison Ivy???? LAME!!! Joker the best one ever!!!! I really think Jim Carrey can do a better job as the Joker, but Jack was awesome, but he did not have the Joker laugh... Micheal Keaton's performance was good, Val's performance was good too, but Georges performance??? EWWWW. I do recommend this Batman, but not the other three movies, I also truely recommend the new one.
